TWO brothers are battling the bulge to encourage others to shed the pounds and head to the gym.

Neil Robinson from Skippetts Gardens and his brother Adam, from Hatch Warren, have started posting videos showing them in action at the gym, after one had a course of Lipolysis, which removes of stubborn pockets of fat such as saddlebags, love handles and double chins.

The course of Lipolysis will mean one of the brothers will lose more weight than the other, but with both built similarly, each will attempt to outdo the other and lose the most weight.

The brothers are not sharing who had the surgery. So far the videos, which are posted on the brothers’ 2phattiesuk Facebook page, have been viewed by hundreds of people, and for Neil the public’s response has been humbling.

Neil, 29, said: “It’s unbelievable. We never thought it would be like this.

“What’s been great is that people have seen us posting videos of us down the gym and realised we’re just two normal blokes trying to get fit.

“We’ve done a number of videos, such as one of us going out to Sainsburys and the other to Lidl, to compare what the prices are for the same products. The comparison shocked quite a few people.

“And the videos of us in the gym, has really encouraged people to go to the gym themselves.

“When we first started going, we had no idea what to do at a gym and showed people our mistakes. It shows that you don’t have to know what you’re doing at a gym to lose weight.”

The brothers work at Violet Recruitment, in Basingstoke, and have found that by dieting together, they both push each other on.

Fitness First have also backed the brothers’ campaign.

But for Adam, the personal response to their challenge has been the most rewarding.

“People have been messaging us saying we have inspired them to get down to the gym because they’re not worried anymore,” Adam, 33, said.

“They have come up to us in the gym and said ‘hey, you’re the two phatties and we just laugh.

“If we can encourage people to get involved, that’s great.”
