BASINGSTOKE’S MP has welcomed news that two local academies will be given millions of pounds in funding from the government.

Dove House School Academy, in Sutton Road, and Coppice Spring Academy, in Pack Lane, were both successful in their bids for funding from the government’s Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).

Dove House is set to receive more than £2 million from the Department for Education, which will be used to replace its existing temporary buildings with a new fit for purpose teaching block.

This will increase the capacity of teaching spaces at the school, to accommodate an increasing number of pupils.

Coppice Spring Academy on Pack Lane will be given a £600,000 boost for new windows and doors, and heating repairs.

Mrs Miller said: “I am delighted that two schools in Basingstoke have benefitted from this year’s CIF funding. It is clear that the bidding process was very competitive, so I am very pleased that Dove House and Coppice Spring were successful

“It is great news to see even more investment in schools in Basingstoke.”
