A BASINGSTOKE cancer charity has welcomed Indian medical researchers to Basingstoke hospital.

Over the last six months, doctors from southern India have been working with the worldleading bowel cancer team at the hospital – thanks to support from Pelican Cancer Foundation (PCF).

It comes after surgeon Dr Rohin Mittal recently completed a research project into the treatment of appendix tumours, working alongside renowned bowel specialists Brendan Moran, Tom Cecil and Faheez Mohamed.

Dr Mittal came with his wife Anuradha, a radiologist, and thanks to the connection with PCF, she has been able to work with professor Gina Brown at the Royal Marsden Hospital.

Dr Mittal’s studies in Basingstoke resulted in new findings into the spread and treatment of high-grade appendix tumours.
