POLICE are appealing for information after a 67-year-old man had his wallet stolen.

The incident took place in Winchester Road, Basingstoke, on Monday, November 7. 

A 67-year-old man was crossing the road near the King of Wessex pub at around 5.30pm when he was approached by an unknown man who asked him for money.

The victim took out his wallet, which the man then grabbed. He pushed the victim to the ground before running off.

The man is described as white, tall and of slim build. He wore a brown leather jacket.

PC Daniel Platt, of Basingstoke CID, said: “We would like anyone with information about what happened to contact us."

"This took place during the evening rush hour, and there were a number of people around, some of whom we know went to help the man.”
