A TALENTED young DJ who was found hanged in the same spot where a close friend took his life two years prior left a note saying “the pain was too much”, an inquest heard.

Carys Murdock, better known by her stage name Enfuza, was found by friends in the Jeffery’s Copse woodland near North Oakley on August 5, with a note saying: “I am sorry I did my best but this is the end for me.

“I didn’t want to be selfish but the pain was too much for me.”

The inquest held at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday heard that the 22-year-old, who was described by doctors of being of “low mood”, had gone to the same spot where her close friend Mark Newman was found hanged two years ago.

The court heard how the drum and bass DJ had struggled with the death of her father and her friend in the same year.

A statement from her ex-boyfriend Alex Hinton read to the inquest said: “She didn’t know her dad, but shortly after trying to reach out to him on Facebook he died.”

“It wasn’t until she started speaking to his family in Wales that they had so much in common and I think the regret stayed with her.”

Mr Hinton’s statement went on to say that Carys had issues with confidence and anxiety.

The court heard that the situation became too much for Mr Hinton and he moved out of the home they were sharing in Kempshott Lane to live with his parents.

He said Carys declined the help of others, adding: “She admitted to attempting to commit suicide before, once even drinking bleach. “She was still dealing with the death of her dad and our friend, but she would never accept any help.”

PC Matthew Chapman told the inquest that Carys was found hanged by her friends who had gone looking for her.

He said: “When I arrived, a friend, David Duncan, was conducting chest compressions until the paramedics arrived, but Carys was pronounced dead a short time after.”

Entering a suicide verdict North East Hampshire coroner Andrew Bradley said: “It is a sad matter and it is clear that she made this decision whilst in a very low mood.”
