A CHOIR returning from a week-long tour in Spain are set to feature one of their concerts live on Basingstoke Hospital Radio tonight.

The Basingstoke Ladies choir, who enjoyed played three concerts whilst visiting Benidorm, will have the special concert they performed with the Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir included on the radio station on Saturday June 11, 8pm.

During their trip, which saw a party of 64 family and friends join the choir and descend on the town, the choir played a concert at the Church of San Jose, Alfas del Pi, a show at an Anglican conformation service in Calpe before their finale with the Spanish male choir in Teulada.

The final show saw a collection of 70 voices finish the evening – complete with two encores.

Annie Eagle, the choir’s public relations officer and singer, said: “It was an absolutely fun week – doing three concerts whilst we were there meant we had a great opportunity for the choir members to not only get to know each other but also enjoy the town we were staying in.

“The choir has lots of social sides and elements to it – we don’t just sing.

“We’re a real family choir and that was shown by the fact it wasn’t just the ladies who were singing came with us, but their children, partners and mums coming along too.

“Trips like these are a great chance for us to spread the name of the choir to further afield but also bring everyone together to have a good sing.”

Before their appearance on Basingstoke Hospital Radio, the choir will perform for The Pink Place Charity at Manydown Farm on Saturday June 11, followed by a concert on Saturday July 2 at St Andrew’s Church, Western Way – which begins at 3pm.
