“Support workers told us it was part of their role to encourage people who used the service to be as independent as possible. People also had goals included within their support plans which were identified and agreed actions that people wanted to be able to achieve independently.

“Relatives told us that their family members’ assistance was delivered by caring support workers. One relative told us, “'They (support workers) are all very caring, I can’t fault any of them'.”

Danielle Joyce, registered manager at Conifers, said: “We are very proud to be acknowledged for promoting a culture which focuses on providing individuals with the opportunities to live their lives as independent members of the community, that we provided outstanding care and support to people enabling them to live fulfilled and meaningful lives and that our support workers are motivated to ensure that people are provided with the opportunity to experience holidays and partanticipate in activities which they have not previously experienced.

“We place a great emphasis on service user empowerment and participation through development of social skills, community access and supporting an individual’s tastes and preferences.”

A spokesperson for Conifers said: “What makes this achievement even more outstanding is we have one of the youngest registered managers in the country running the home.

“The inspector referred to the registered manager as providing a strong positive leadership and complimented her as being creative, proactive and innovative, which in turn was supported by relatives commenting that the home has a confident registered manager,” the spokesperson added.
