A BASINGSTOKE school celebrated the achievements of pupils during a successful year.
Former pupils, staff and current pupils from The Costello School, in Crossborough Hill, attended a presentation evening on October 1.
The evening began with a dance performance from pupils and Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications for the Ark Cancer Centre Charity, talked to youngsters about the charity’s plan to build a new modern cancer centre in North Waltham.
More than 130 award prizes were handed out to pupils in all years including the effort and progress prize, the achievement prize and prizes for high achievement in the different subjects.
The prizes awarded on the night were thanks to the school’s Prize Fund from the Costello Educational Foundation.
The foundation was established in 1954 and is a trust which manages donations to the school given for the specific purpose of funding annual prizes to students.
Headteacher Leigh Adams said: “Our presentation evening is one of the highlights of our calendar year during which we are able to reflect on and celebrate all the successes of the previous 12 months.
“It is so good to see so many different students winning prizes for their endeavours.
“We must also not forget those students who go about their good work and studies quietly and effectively without public acclaim. They are just as important to us and are what makes Costello such a good school.”
