POLICE are urging motorists to lock their vehicles following reports of a suspicious man eyeing up cars in the early hours.

He was spotted looking into car windows at 3am on October 15 in the Waltham Road area of Overton.

A police spokesman urged drivers to also remove all valuables from unattended vehicle. If you use a sat nav it may be worth ensuring that you remove the suction marks from the windscreen as it is a sign that the sat nav may be kept in the car.

Thieves will be aware that valuables are kept in either the glove box, central storage, in one of the door pockets or under one of the front seats.

The spokesman added that it would only take a thief a few seconds to search all of these places in your vehicle.

If you do notice anything suspicious report it to the police using 101.
