BASINGSTOKE rapper Signal is gearing up for the release of his new single this month.

The 23-year-old, whose real name is Dan Amps, has announced the release of his new music video and single, Grime, on October 11.

The latest single, which features Bless and Inspekta and is produced by Jay Picasso, is the rapper’s latest release following the success of Make It Happen – the first single from his six track hip hop/urban EP of the same title which is expected to be released early next year.

Basingstoke Gazette:

Signal has been rapping for almost 10 years. He has been represented by Titans Entertainment since 2013 and has supported the likes of Krept and Konan, Sneakbo, Chip, Kano and Wretch 32.

Last year, the 23-year-old, who is a former pupil of The Vyne Community School and now boasts a degree in music production from the Academy Of Contemporary Music, reached the finals of Reading's Got Talent.

He was also crowned Vocal Networking champion in 2013 for gaining the most YouTube views of his performance at a Reading event.

Speaking about his latest release, Signal said: “I am extremely excited for the release! A lot of hard work has gone into making it happen, excuse the pun.

“The genre reflects the title, bringing back the repetitive lyrics and theme of the old school Grime scene. Jay Picasso killed it on the production again. Grime features two rappers, Bless from Reading and London rapper Inspekta.

“I was performing in Reading at the Vocal Networking event where I had asked if someone in the audience wanted to rap over the second verse. Bless stepped up and blew away the crowd with his explosive flow. The rest is history.

“London video director Joe Keegan shot the video at Leake Street Graffiti Tunnel, by Waterloo station and the graffiti images capture a real urban vibe that is a perfect representation of the single.”

Signal’s single can be found on all of the usual online music retailers. The accompanying video can be viewed on Link Up TV.
