A WHITCHURCH restaurant is set to compete against other Asian restaurants across the south as part of a Parliamentary competition.

The Blue Ginger, in Bell Street, will represent North West Hampshire in the National Tiffin Cup – a competition which is run by MPs to find Great Britain’s best South Asian restaurant.

The restaurant will now compete against others across the region in a bid to reach the grand final at the House of Commons on October 27.

North West Hampshire MP Kit Malthouse, who nominated the Blue Ginger, said: “This is such a prestigious competition and I look forward to welcoming Blue Ginger to the House of Commons, should they win their regional heat.”

The National Tiffin Cup is an annual competition that raises money for selected charities.

Nominees are selected by constituency area and nominated by the constituency’s MP.

Only one restaurant from every region is shortlisted and invited to take part in a cook-off at the House of Commons in London.

Tiffin is the name given to containers for light meals.
