NEW images showing what the £15million redevelopment of a town centre office block will look like have been released.

Detailed designs showing plans for a £15m redevelopment of Churchill Plaza have been released by building consultancy and architect firm Jones Hargreaves.

The improvement project will see the reception double in height, an overhaul of the building’s electrical systems, refurbishment of the lifts and heating as well as a revamp to modernise offices inside the building.

A planning application is expected to be submitted by Tosca, who purchased the landmark building in Churchill Way last August, in the coming months with work expected to commence early next year.

The building is currently occupied by Barclays bank and the site sits across from the landmark John Lewis at home and Waitrose store which is expected to open this autumn.

Peter Hargreaves, partner at the firm, said: “We are delighted to be assisting the landlord with the refurbishment of this landmark property. We are confident that the works will attract a broad range of tenants and we look forward to developing the scheme over the coming months and into 2016.”

Cabinet member for finance and resources, Councillor John Izett, added: “Churchill Plaza is a landmark office building and it is very encouraging that the message about how good the business opportunities increasingly are in Basingstoke is being recognised by major investors.

“As a council we very much welcome this significant investment into the borough. This investment is also good news for Basing View and our town centre retailers.

“We welcome the new owners of Churchill Plaza to Basingstoke and look forward to working with them.”
