A HOSPICE has received a cash boost after a legal firm donated more than £2,000 following the death of a senior partner.

Southampton’s Countess Mountbatten Hospice received the cheque from QualitySolicitors Clarke & Son, based in Basingstoke.

The palliative care unit cared for Charles Marchant-White, who before his death nominated it as his charity of choice.

Fundraising started in November when solicitors a team from the firm took part in the Movember challenge, raising £300.

The donations continued to flood in, raising a total of £2,140 by February.

Mr Leszczynski, a trainee solicitor, said: “We are delighted to be passing on such an amazing sum to the Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity.”

Partner, Julie McKinney, said: “Countess Mountbatten came to Charles in his hour of need.

“He was under their care as an inpatient for a number of weeks and the care and attention of every member of staff as well as the volunteers, the longer visiting hours, the ability to bring in and see his puppy cocker spaniel made a world of difference and it was great to be able to make a small contribution to aid their cause to help others.”

Mr Anderson and Emma Morris, both solicitors, recently visited the hospice to hand over the cash to Pam Bates, fundraising and PR manager.

She said: “QualitySolicitors Clarke and Son are such a positive and friendly team, who have supported us over the past year.

“It is staggering that they raised over £2,000 for the charity.”
