SUPERHEROES took a break from fighting crime to meet their fans as part of a fundraising effort.

Spider-Man and Batman were among the figures who stopped and posed for photos with children at the event in The Malls on Saturday.

The man behind the event was Mike Wilson, whose son Jayden sadly lost his battle with a brain tumour in December last year.

A video the 33-year-old filmed before Jayden's death, where he dressed as Spider-Man to surprise his son, was an international success on YouTube, getting millions of views.

On Saturday, he dressed as the superhero again as part of his mission to raise money for Naomi House children's hospice.

He said: "It has been continuous but we have enjoyed every bit of it.

"This is all for the kids to raise money, to promote a good message and raise awareness for the Naomi House. Without Naomi House I do not think we would be where we are today because they have been there for us as a family from the beginning."

The event was organised as part of Children's Hospice Week, and Mike, from Beggarwood, had support from his fellow members of the world-famous freerunning group 3Run.

His friend Jade Armitage dressed as Elsa character from the Disney film Frozen to help keep children entertained.

There was also a stand with games, chocolate, and a chance to enter a Super Hero Selfie Competition, with prizes up for grabs including vouchers for Go Ape.

The Hope From Jayden campaign has so far raised more than £18,000 for the Naomi House hospice in Sutton Scotney.
