SHE has a fear of heights – but brave Emma Holloway overcame her anxieties to take part in a stomach-churning charity skydive in memory of her late brother.

Emma raised over £3,000 for St Michael’s Hospice, in Aldermaston Road, Basingstoke, through the tandem skydive.

Her brother Mark Holloway was cared for at the hospice in the weeks before he passed away after a battle with cancer in 2010. He was only 36.

Emma said: “Mark would have been 40 years old on October 25, and I wanted to do something to remember him around his birthday.

“The fact that I did the skydive on Remembrance Sunday just felt right. I am terrified of heights, but strangely I did not feel nervous until the very last minute.”

Emma, who works in sales, took on the 13,500ft skydive at Skydive Netheravon, near Salisbury.

She said: “I was originally unsure whether I should organise a charity ball, or do something like a skydive, but I think I made the right decision.

“I’m really pleased with the amount that I’ve raised, through friends, family, colleagues and customers. Everyone has been very generous and the money is still coming in.”

Emma, from Bramley, has already smashed her original fundraising target of £2,000, and has so far raised more than £3,000.

She said: “I really wanted to raise money for the hospice because the care that Mark had there was absolutely fantastic. I know the money is going to a really good cause.”
