A TOWN clerk who has served on a council for over two decades has announced that she will retire next year.
Cathy Burt has been in her role at Whitchurch Town Council for 22 years, and is well known locally for her hard work and dedication to the town.
In her resignation letter, Cathy said: “I retire with some trepidation and with a little sadness, as for the most part I have loved my job, and been honoured to work for the council and the people of Whitchurch for such a long run.”
Cathy will step down as town clerk at the end of next March.
Whitchurch Mayor Councillor Mike Kean, who is chairman of the town council, said: “Replacing Cathy is not going to be an easy task, and I for one would like to pay tribute to Cathy’s magnificent record of service to the town council.”
