MORE than £400 has been stolen from a betting shop in Basingstoke.

Police are appealing for information following the robbery which took place at the Coral store at The Camrose football ground in Winchester Road.

The incident took place around 9.45pm on Wednesday, 21 March.

Two men, with their faces covered, entered the store and used a wooden pole to threaten a staff member inside.

They stole more than £400 before running out of the shop towards Western Way.

Police are looking for the two men, one is described as white, around 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, of medium build, wearing a long-sleeved hi-vis jacket and dark trousers and using a black scarf to cover his face.

The other man is described as white, around 5ft to 10ins tall, of medium build, wearing a black hooded top with the hood up and spoke with a local accent.

The 21-year-old male staff member was not injured in the incident and nobody else was inside the store at the time.

Detective constable Lisa Robins said: “This was a cowardly attack on a lone member of staff.

“Were you in this area at the time? Do you remember seeing two men matching the descriptions?

“Perhaps you saw a vehicle nearby that seemed suspicious or was being driven off at speed?”
