A MAN had to have stitches in his head following an attack on Christmas Day.
The 25-year-old victim was walking along an alleyway near the Vyne Community School, which leads to Queen Mary Avenue when he was approached by two men.
The men, described as being black and wearing dark jackets, asked the victim for tobacco. He refused and started to walk away, but as he did so he was hit on the head.
Police reported that the incident happened sometime between 11.15pm and 11.55pm on Monday 25 December.
Following the attack, the 25-year-old was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester where he received stitches for a head wound.
Detective Constable Dan Leese said: “We are trying to establish the exact details of what took place.
“Did you go for a walk in this area on Christmas Day? Did you see what happened or notice anything suspicious? If so, we would like to hear from you.”
