A MAN was attacked by a group of around seven men wearing face masks during a robbery attempt in a Basingstoke park on Halloween night.
Between 8.05pm and 8.20pm on Tuesday, 31 October, the 44-year-old victim was walking through Victory Park towards Brookvale Village Hall when he was approached by a group of approximately seven men.
The victim was punched and kicked by members of the group, who also searched his bag and jacket.
Nothing was stolen and the victim sustained bruising as a result of the attack.
The group were described as being dressed all in black and wearing some form of face masks.
Hampshire Constabulary's sergeant Steve Jones, of Western Investigations, said: “We are aware that there were other people in the park around the time of this incident, and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it.
“We are particularly keen to speak with two women and a man who spoke with the victim immediately after the incident to check if he was alright, as they may have key information to assist our enquiries.
“In addition, if you saw a group of people matching the description and wearing face masks, possibly for Halloween, in this area at this time please let us know.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt Jones on 101, quoting 44170424249, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
