A PROPERTY in Buckskin was targeted and badly damaged in an incident of criminal damage in the early hours of a morning.

Police reported that a flat in Worsam Court, off Chiltern Way, was the target of an attack as a 47-year-old man tried to gain access to the flat.

The incident took place at 2.28am on August 31, and due to the noise and commotion, woke a number of the residents in the surrounding properties.

An eye witness said that they saw the man with a ‘hammer like’ object smash the window of the access door of the block of flats.

At this time, it is unsure as to why the man was targeting the flat.

An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Gazette they heard a lot of shouting coming from outside, which cause him to wake.

He said: “There was really loud shouting and the person seemed really angry. It seemed like whoever this person was trying to get to had really upset them.”

Another nearby resident said: “I looked out my window and could see this man just hitting at the door with what was a hammer like object, maybe a bat of some kind.

“I have always seen several people around that area, but I have no idea as to why this happened, I just remember waking up think what the hell is going on.”

Officers said that the 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, and has been released under investigation.

The incident is being treated as an isolated attack and with no wider risk to the public.
