RESIDENTS are being warned to be more vigilant following a suspected rogue trader incident in Kingsclere.

At approximately 10am on June 14, a man knocked on an 82-year-old woman’s resident’s door in Greenlands Road, claiming she owed £900 for roofing repairs.

However, the woman said no money was owed and the man left, but the man returned at around midday and introduced himself as working for the council, and claimed again that the woman owed £900 for roofing repairs.

This time the woman said she needed to contact a family member, the man left.

The man who was asking for the money was described as a white man, in his late 30s to early 40s, clean shaven and wearing a baseball cap. He is also believed to be driving a white transit style van.

PCSO Freya Batchelor said: “Were you in this area at the time? Did you notice anything suspicious, or remember seeing a man matching the description given?”

If anyone has any information, they are asked to call the police on 101 quoting the reference number 44170225951.
