A DRINK driver who inadvertently handed himself into police has been banned from driving for a year.
Edward Fox, 40, of Branton Close, Basinsgtoke, pleaded guilty to drink-driving at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on May 30.
The court heard how Fox unwittingly handed himself in on May 15, when he walked into Basingstoke Police station to complain about the driving of a police officer.
The prosecutor said that Fox had followed a marked police car into the station and went to the front desk to raise his concerns about an officer’s driving.
However, the sergeant could smell alcohol on his breath and carried out a test as he had admitted that he had been driving.
The court heard that a test revealed he was over the drink drive limit and he was arrested and charged.
Fox was disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay a £300 fine and costs of £85.
