A MAN was left with a fractured jaw after being assaulted by two men in Basingstoke town centre at the weekend.

The 36-year-old victim was walking in Wote Street at around 3:20am on Saturday April 22 when he was approached by his would be attackers.

One of the assailants punched the man which knocked him to the ground, before the other man kicked him.

The man was taken to Basingstoke hospital, before being transferred to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford for treatment to a fractured jaw and a cut to his head.

Officers have released descriptions of the attackers with one being described as white, aged mid to late 20s, having short black hair, being of slim build and wearing jeans and a long-sleeved black shirt.

The other attacker is described as being white, aged mid to late 20s, having blond hair, being of average build and wearing a blue polo top.

Detective constable Dan Hayward said: “This was a nasty assault and we would like anyone with any information to come forward.

“We know that a number of people came to the aid of the injured man, including one man who then drove him to Basingstoke hospital.

“Were you there? Did you help the victim? You may hold information which might help our investigation.”
