POLICE are appealing for information after thieves stole three antique bayonets from a property in Brookvale.

The value of the three French 19th Century bayonets is estimated to be around £325, and were stolen from a garage by the victim’s house sometime between 4pm on Saturday, April 8 and 5pm on Monday, April 10.

Nothing else was taken from the property.

The first bayonet is described as a French Pattern 1842 Bayonet, which was 24.75 inches in length and brass handled with a steel blade in a metal scabbard.

The second bayonet is described as a French Pattern 1886 Lebel Bayonet, which was 25 inches in length and white metal handled with a steel blade in a metal scabbard.

The third bayonet is described as a French Pattern 1866 Chasepot Bayonet, which was 28 inches in length and brass handled with a steel blade in a metal scabbard.

PC Jon Hayes said: “These are three distinctive objects and I would appeal for anyone who has been offered these items for sale recently to contact us.

“Do you know anything about this burglary? We would like to hear from you.”
