A 75-YEAR-old man has been assaulted in Popley.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the elderly man was left with several broken bones and cuts to his head following the assault.
Between 9am and 9.40am on Monday (March 20) in Abbey Road, Popley, the victim was walking along the road, when a dog barked at him and he shouted back at the dog.
He then noticed a man following him and shouting at him.
The victim began to run and felt himself getting pushed from behind. He then fell and lost consciousness.
He was taken to hospital with a broken collarbone and wrist, as well as cuts to his head.
Detective Constable Brent Williams, of Basingstoke CID, said: “While we are treating this as an isolated incident, the victim did sustain significant injuries and we are keen to hear from anyone with information.”
