OFFICERS are encouraging residents in Basingstoke and Deane to make sure their garages are secure following a string of attempted break-ins across the borough.
Hampshire Constabulary has issued a warning stating that thieves see garages as an easy target as they are sometimes used to house valuable goods, but are way from the main property.
Police are advising residents to fit strong padlocks and hardware to shed and garage doors, to consider lockable steel boxes or anchor posts fitted to the floor to secure tools and equipment and put extra security measures in place.
If you have any concerns that someone may be tampering with your property contact Basingstoke CID on 101.
