TWO young lambs were viciously mauled and killed by a dog in a field behind Manor Farm at Weston Corbett.
The attack, which took place between 8am and 5pm on November 5, near Weston Road, in Weston Patrick, saw the eight-month-old lambs suffer dog bites to their hind quarters and faces, as well as having wool pulled from their bodies.
A third lamb was also hurt durng the attack, and at this time it is not known if the third lamb will survive.
PC Andrew Reid said: “I urge all dog owners to please keep your dogs on a lead when near any fields with livestock in them.
“The dogs believe it is a game and as livestock runs away it is a chase, deep down the chase alone will cause stress which can and will kill the sheep.”
Police are appealing for any dog walkers or witnesses who were in the area at the time of the attack to call Basingstoke CID on 101 quoting 44160419267.
