A TEENAGER was assaulted in an underpass after a thief attacked him and stole his £1,500 bike.

The 18-year-old was passing through the underpass near the War Memorial Park and Hackwood Road roundabout, when the offender tried to grab his bike and hit him during a brief struggle.

The attacker then rode the victim’s bike along Camrose Way towards Grove Road following the incident, which took place between 4pm and 4.10pm on Tuesday.

The offender is described as black, aged in his early 20s with short, black hair and was wearing a black vest with a gold-coloured metal chain around his next.

Detective constable Dan Leese, of Basingstoke CID said: “This occurred in the daytime by an underpass. Did you see what happened?

“I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the offender or mountain bike.”

The bike is described as a blue and white Carrera Vulcan mountain bike.
