TWO teenagers were arrested during a drugs raid on five properties in Basingstoke yesterday.

Officers executed five drug warrants in the town, at addresses in Beethoven Road, in Hatch Warren, Goat Lane, in Eastrop, St Michael’s Road, in South Ham, Warton Road, in South View, and Woolfrod Way, in Winklebury.

The raids were part of Hampshire Constabulary’s Operation Fortress, an initiative to tackle drugs, drug-related violence and protect those vulnerable to criminal exploitation.

As a result of a raid at the Warton Road property, an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from London, were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to supply a Class A drugs.

Both men are being held in police custody.

Inspector Ben Taylor, from the Basingstoke Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Drug-related activity will not be tolerated in Basingstoke.

“The role of the community in tackling this type of crime is vital – if we don’t know about it, we can’t act on it.”

Thanks to the five warrants officers recovered high quantities of suspected Class A and Class B drugs, cash and drugs paraphernalia.
