A MAN has been stabbed in an underpass in Basingstoke this evening.

Police are appealing for information following the incident at 6.30pm in the underpass between Basingstoke Leisure Park and the Winklebury estate.

An argument took place between two pairs of men in the underpass before a fight broke out and one of the pairs of men, both aged in their late 30s, were stabbed.

Both are being treated at Southampton General Hospital.  One of the victims is described as being in a serious condition.

A cordon is currently in place at the scene of the incident and is likely to remain there throughout the evening while officers conduct their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Oliver Lage, said: “I need to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident.  It happened in broad daylight and it  is likely someone saw what happened.  Did you see or hear the group of four men arguing?  Did you witness the attack?  I would urge anyone with information to contact us on 101 quoting 44160225172.”

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and are currently in custody being questioned by officers.
