A SPATE of burglaries has been reported this week in villages around Basingstoke.

Between 8pm on April 5 and 5am on April 6, police recorded 12 incidents in rural areas of the borough including three shed break-ins in Nashes Green, Herriard, a garage break-in Upton Grey and a garden shed break-in in Weston Patrick.

Among the items stolen were chainsaws, a strimmer, a hedge cutter and a children’s quad bike.

Police are linking these burglaries to a reported incident in March and are appealing to any witnessed with any information.

PC Andrew Reid said: “I am asking if anyone has any CCTV that may look across the roads in these villages or areas to please check to see if any vehicles are seen in the early hours.

“I continue to urge all residents to use good quality locks on your sheds and outbuildings, to consider an alarm and CCTV.

“If you live in one of these areas and you saw or heard anything unusual please give me a call.”

If you have any information contact Basingstoke CID on 101 or call or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
