POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was racially abused in Basingstoke.

The incident took place between 12.20pm and 12.40pm on Tuesday, January 19, when the 55-year-old victim was driving along Queen Mary Avenue.

A van reversed on to the road, causing the woman to brake suddenly. Both the victim and the van driver got out of their vehicles. The van driver then started to racially abuse the woman.

The van driver is described as white, of chunky build with dark brown, cropped hair. He wore black cargo trousers with a lot of pockets, black boots and a black polo shirt.

He was driving a black Ford Transit van, which did not have writing or a logo on it.
