POPPY appeal tins containing cash were stolen from three Basingstoke businesses hours before people stood to remember fallen soldiers.

Officers from Hampshire police would like to speak to this man in connection with the thefts of the three tin, which contained an unknown quantity of cash.

The thefts were from Odeon cinema, Premier Inn and Basingstoke Aquadrome on Saturday November 7.

A spokesman said that staff from Odeon Cinema noticed a man take their Poppy Appeal tin at about 3pm and saw him “run out of the cinema”.

They added that once word staff at the other two businesses noticed the theftsIt is not known when those two other thefts took place.

The man is described as a white male, tall, and wore dark clothing with a hood up to cover his face.
