MONEY and jewellery have been stolen from homes in a series of burglaries in Basingstoke, Winchester and Romsey.
Police are investigating the burglaries which have happened over the last few days between 6pm and 8.30pm.
In each case, it has been reported that two young men knocked on the door of a home and then managed to get inside after the occupant opened the door to them.
The burglars then searched the home and stole items before leaving.
All victims had money and jewellery stolen, and one had their car stolen - a silver Volkswagen Golf.
None of the victims suffered any injuries.
Detective Sergeant Ron Lock from the Northern Investigations Team said: "We are advising residents not to open the door to anyone they do not know. If you are able to, check who is at the door before opening it and ensure it is someone you know. If it isn’t, don’t risk it. If the caller has a genuine enquiry they will understand your refusal to engage with them.
"We think these people are asking bogus questions in order to get the occupants attention. Ignore them and keep a chain on your door if possible.
"We are appealing to anyone in the Brook Way area of Romsey, the Saxon Road area of Winchester and the Munnings Close area of Basingstoke who has seen anyone suspicious recently to contact us with information.
"Also, if you have seen anybody knocking on neighbours doors in these areas then please do pick up the phone and call 101 quoting 44150384717."
