A TEENAGER has been ordered to take part in a knife crime prevention programme after admitting possessing a blade.

The Basingstoke boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also pleaded guilty to sending messages on Instagram and Facebook which “conveyed a threat for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety” to the recipient.

The lad has been given a youth rehabilitation order by magistrates, which includes a curfew and participation in a knife crime prevention scheme.

He must also pay a victim surcharge of £15.

The bladed article has since been destroyed.
