POLICE are appealing for information after a man was assaulted during a burglary in Popley on Friday.

The incident, which took place in Falkland Road, occurred shortly after 5.30am when a resident in the property woke up to find two men searching through a bedroom.

He was then assaulted and knocked unconscious after confronting one of the men. He later received hospital treatment for minor head injuries.

One of the offenders was described as being of a stocky build, with blonde hair and he was wearing a dark top and blue jeans.

Detective Constable Dan Leese from the Northern Investigation Team said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who might have been in the area at the time or who may have seen the offenders who we believe ran towards Carpenters Down.

“I would like to remind residents to ensure that their windows and doors are securely locked overnight.”
