AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a Basingstoke park.

The attack on the teenage girl took place in Eastrop Park on Sunday, July 5.

The force said it was told of the assault on Friday last week.

It said specialist officers were working with the victim and her family to establish more details about the assault.

On Sunday, July 19, officers stopped members of the public travelling throught the underpass at the eastern end of the park to ask if they had seen anything suspicious on the day of the attack.

The force added that house-to-house enquiries were being carried out.
