A BASINGSTOKE grandmother has pleaded for her wheelchair to be returned after it was stolen in the early hours of the morning.

Christina McQueen opened the front door of her property in Pyotts Court, in Old Basing on the morning of May 15, to find that her bright blue wheelchair had gone missing.

The 65-year-old, who suffers with Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis, said that she keeps the wheelchair outside as she struggles to walk and finds it difficult to wheel out of the flat.

She told The Gazette: “I don’t go out often and I can’t put the wheelchair inside my flat so I keep it outside. It means I can’t go out.

“Someone has come along and taken it and I want to appeal for them to bring it back. Now they have taken by independence away. All I want is my wheelchair back."

Police confirmed that they have received a call from Mrs McQueen and are investigating the incident. They believe the wheelchair could have been stolen between 10pm on May 14 and 9.30am on May 15.
