BURGLARS ran off empty-handed after being confronted by a homeowner.

Two men, who had their faces covered, forced a rear door to get into a house in Tobago Close, Popley, at about 6pm on Friday.

But they left when they were confronted by a woman, who was alone at home at the time.

A third thief is is believed to have been outside the house at the time.

The men in the house were described as white, aged in their mid to late 40s, and wore smart clothes.

One of the men had dark hair under a baseball cap and wore black leather gloves.

The third man, who was standing outside the house, was described as white, aged in his mid to late 20s, about 6ft tall and was of slim build. He had short mousey hair and wore smart trousers and light smart shirt.
