A crime prevention roadshow will visit Basingstoke and surrounding towns and villages from the end of January.

The Operation: Stronghold roadshow will focus on reducing rural crime, shed and garage burglaries, thefts of bicycles and thefts from vehicles.

It comes to Festival Place in Basingstoke between 11am and 1pm on Wednesday, February 18.

It has been organised by Safer North Hampshire, made up of community safety teams at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Hart District Council and Rushmoor Borough Council.

David Lipscombe, projects team leader, said police, council officers and Neighbourhood Watch representatives will give out crime advice and padlocks, shed alarms and timer switches. There will also be an opportunity to buy discounted heavy-duty bike locks.

He added: “Whether you live in a town, a village or on a farm, you should take security seriously – we are on hand to give advice and recommendations, so come along to one of our roadshows.”

The roadshow will be at the Bramley Village Bakery in Sherfield Road on Friday, January 30. On Wednesday, February 4 it will be in High Street, Odiham, and on Friday, February 13 it will be at the Gill Nethercott Centre, in Winchester Street, Whitchurch.

It will head to Tadley Library, in Mulfords Hill, Tadley, on Friday, February 20 and Scats Countrystores in Wildmoor Lane, Sherfield-on-Loddon, on Saturday, February 21.
