'Suspicious package' found outside Basingstoke Job Centre
OFFICES were evacuated after a “suspicious package” was found outside Basingstoke Job Centre.
The package was found outside the front of the building in Winchester Road, just after 11am this morning.
Police set up a 100metre cordon around the package while it was investigated, which resulted in the evacuation of the job centre and Winton House.
The exclusion zone also affected Winchester Road and Sarum Hill.
Police lifted the cordon at 12.17pm this afternoon, stating it had been a false alarm.
