A ROBBER made off with cash after barging his way into a Basingstoke store this morning.

The robbery took place at the Co-op store, in Kings Road, South Ham, at 6am.

A woman, who was working at the shop, heard a knock at the door, and was confronted by a man whose face was covered.

He pushed her into the store and demanded that she hand over cash. He ran off after she handed over money.

The robber is described as white, about 6ft tall and wore dark-coloured clothing.

Detective Constable Wes Arnold said: “Fortunately the woman was not hurt during this incident, but it was extremely frightening and she has been left very shaken.

“I’m appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, either on foot or driving through, and who may have seen something which could help this investigation, to contact me.”

Those with information can contact DC Arnold at Basingstoke CID on 101, quoting 44150004002, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
