OFFICERS want to talk to two drivers in a convoy after a South Warnborough man died when his car hit a tree.

The fatal crash took place at 7.53pm on Tuesday, October 7, on the B3349 at Shalden, between South Warnborough and Alton.

A 40-year-old man was driving a black Audi S5 when it left the road, hit a tree and caught fire. He died of his injuries at the scene.

Police said at first that the man was from Hook.

Officers from Whitchurch roads policing unit want to trace two drivers who were travelling south in a convoy of three cars towards Alton shortly before the crash.

They also want to speak to two female drivers who stopped at the scene.

They believe two of the cars in the convoy were a pale or mint green Ford Fiesta and a coffee or brown coloured car, possibly a new Skoda.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Whitchurch roads policing unit on 101, quoting Operation Martello, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
