TWO brothers and a woman have been jailed for a total of 44 years for a drunken vigilante attack.

Gary and Raymond Collins, along with Samantha Lee, attacked Jason Webb at his home in Pentland Close, Buckskin, Basingstoke on February 11 this year.

A trial had heard the brothers blamed Mr Webb for the death of their half-sister Sally Wheeler, who was found at a house in Vyne Road, South View, Basingstoke on February 9.

Today, the three defendants were in the dock for sentence at Portsmouth Crown Court.

A jury found each of them guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon after a trial at Winchester Crown Court in August.

Mr Webb was stabbed through the cheek, punched and kicked, hit over the head with a lamp, and had drop kicks aimed at him as he sat on a chair.

The attack, carried out by a group of people including the three defendants, lasted for 20 minutes and involved a curved kukri knife brought to the house, the court heard.

Mr Webb's housemate was taken into a separate room and relieved of his phone while the attack took place so he would not raise the alarm.

Judge Linda Sullivan sentenced Gary Collins, 34, of Worting Road, Basingstoke, and Lee, 28, of Winklebury Centre, Winklebury, Basingstoke, to 13 years imprisonment.

Raymond Collins, 33, of Penny Black Lane, Rooksdown, Basingstoke, was handed an extended sentence of 18 years, for the protection of the public.

The extended sentence means that Raymond Collins will only be eligible for release on licence after serving two-thirds of his sentence.
