THE driver of a red car may hold vital information for the inquiry into the death of a pedestrian.

James Jamieson, 82, of Attwood Close, Kings Furlong, Basingstoke, died in hospital on Saturday, September 12, two weeks after he was hit by a car while crossing Worting Road, near Morrisons supermarket.

A 51-year-old woman, from Tadley, who was driving the Ford focus that collided with Mr Jamieson, was not injured. Police said she has provided them with an account of what happened.

Officers are keen to speak to the driver of a red Honda Civic who was driving along Worting Road around 7.20am on Friday, August 29, who may have seen the victim just before the collision.

Sergeant Andy Lynch said: “The driver of this vehicle could hold vital information to assist our investigation and I would urge this person, or anyone who thinks they know who they are, to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and ask for the serious collision investigation unit at Eastleigh police station, quoting Operation Bagherra.
