TWO thugs robbed a man by a Basingstoke play park.

The two attackers stole money and the mobile phone from the 25-year-old victim at a play park near to Oakridge Road and Mullins Close, Oakridge, at around 10pm on Thursday, March 13.

They approached him and demanded he hand over his property. When he didn’t, they attacked him until he handed over the items.

The two men, both described as black and aged in their 30s, ran off in the direction of the underpass which leads to Shakespeare Road, Popley.

The mobile phone was recovered close to the scene of the robbery.

The first suspect was around 5ft 9ins tall, of stocky build, spoke with a London accent and wore a black jacket with his hood up and dark blue jeans.

The second man was around 6ft 4ins tall, of skinny build, and wore a black jacket with black nylon tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable Andrew Wright, from Basingstoke CID, appealed for witnesses, including a dog walker who spoke to a police community support officer and may have seen one of the suspects running past shortly after the incident.
