Ellisfield/Farleigh
WOW: The sun was shining and it was just the most perfect day for last Thursday's annual garden and gift fair at Farleigh House.
It was a huge success this year, helped by the glorious weather. More people than ever attended, and more than £14,500 was raised for charity (a record compared to last year which was £11,000). In addition to the stalls, there were lectures in the greenhouse on gardening under glass, and head gardener Andrew Woolley showed groups of people around the garden.
PUB quiz: Last Sunday's pub quiz was won, once again, by the Supporter's Club, beating the Village People by just two points!
Many thanks to Ann for some challenging questions.
This was the last pub quiz for a while as the summer evenings keep us outside. Never fear, the quizzes will return in the autumn.
Meanwhile, The Fox Inn is now open for food and drink seven days a week and there is a new summer menu featuring food sourced locally where possible.
PARISH council: At the last meeting, Tim Guinness was re-elected as chairman and Steven Gould as vice-chairman for the next year. Other councillors agreed to take responsibility for certain aspects of parish business.
Councillor Cazenove expressed her thanks for the hard work of members of the Ellisfield Volunteer Group who had mowed the grass and generally tidied up to make the burial ground look so good.
