Oakridge/South View
MAYOR: Our new mayor, Councillor George Hood, is very much an Oakridge resident and a borough councillor for Norden.
He is the third local resident to become mayor following Tom Baptiste in 1964 and Lynden Jones in 1999.
Among the local people who are part of George's team is the Reverend Alison Askew, his chaplain and chaplain to Basingstoke hospital, and the Reverend Jacqui Horton, minister of the Oakridge Methodist Church, who will be standing in for Alison when she is unavailable to attend events with him.
George is enthusiastically supported by his wife Davina. Both of them have enjoyed their year as deputy mayor and mayoress and the coming year represents a new challenge and the opportunity to meet the people of Basingstoke.
We wish them a happy and enjoyable year.
