FUNDRAISING for a state of the art cancer treatment centre has received a huge boost after a five figure donation.

The Ark Cancer Centre charity received a donation of £20,000 taking its total over the £1million mark.

The charity needs to raise £5million to build the new cancer treatment centre, which will help provide state of the art treatments for people in the Basingstoke and Andover area.

The money was raised by the Basingstoke Deane Rotary Club’s annual charity concert, which was performed in front of a sell-out audience at the Anvil theatre, where the club presented Ark Cancer Centre Charity trustee Merv Rees a cheque for £10,000.

In addition to the money raised, the total will be doubled to £20,000 due to the Greenham Common Trust’s findmeagrant match-funding scheme.

At the charity concert Mr Rees thanked the people for their generosity in helping the charity reach the milestone.

The £5million appeal will ensure that a range of support services and therapies are available alongside chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments are available in a calm and uplifting environment.
