Three hurt in house fire

THREE men were injured after a fire broke out in the kitchen of house in Hampshire.

They suffered smoke inhalation as the flames spread through the semi-detached house in Fair Oak near Eastleigh.

Two of the victims were treated with oxygen by firefighters in the front garden of the house, in Pilchards Avenue at about 6.20am.

All three were taken to hospital by ambulance.

Watch manager Nigel Mottashed, of Botley fire station, said a couple of neighbouring houses had to be evacuated.

Fire fighters took about 20 minutes to tackle the flames which had spread from the kitchen through the lounge and upstairs and then had to clear the heavy smoke logging.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, said Mr Mottashed.

Three fire engines from Eastleigh, one from Botley and the special equipment unit from St Mary's attended the scene.

so toast is the top answer , of course a good GRILLING from the fire officer regarding the lack of smoke alarm possibly.

Is smoke inhalation not an injury, then? Are flames not fire, then?
